What information do we collect?

We need your e-mail address in order to send you confirmation of online bookings. As a customer you will have the option to sign up to our email newsletter service when registering. We retain credit card information in our database for the purposes of forwarding to accomodation providers, validating your booking and deducting balance payments. Once your credit card details are used for this purpose they are retained on file for the purpose of actioning and managing refunds to accommodation providers e.g. for “no shows”. Your CVV2 number is not retained on our database. We ask you where you heard about hostelmania.com and we use this information to analyse the effectiveness of the various publicity campaigns. We log domain names and/or IP addresses for our internal site traffic statistics. We request details of affiliate's websites to ensure the suitability of such websites. If you choose to pay with a credit or debit card, we pass your card details to our third party payment partner for authorisation of the transaction and for payment of the deposit. We do not sell customer names or other private profile information to third parties and have no intention of doing so in the future. Occasionally, hostelmania.com will hire a third party to act on our behalf for projects such as market research surveys and contest entry processing and will provide information to these third parties specifically for use in connection with these projects. hostelmania.com do use a third party to broadcast their newsletter.
